The Collector Winter 2019
This fall I attended the 50th anniversary of graduation from my school of nurs-ing. Some of my colleagues meet annually, so we have kept in touch. There were two who I have not seen since graduation. So it was a wonderful time. As part of the festivities we were asked to bring a door prize that reflected something about us. My contribution was a Torquay pot with the motto Health is man’s greatest blessing. My colleague who chose it was thrilled. I took the opportunity to educate my classmates about NATS and our beloved Torquay.
As I pen this message we are finalizing the 2020 convention venue. It’s excit-ing to think about planning for our next gathering. Members should be pleased with the results accomplished by our Vice President Jen O’Connor and convention host Alice Feldman.
The theme of our conference is intriguing. All Creatures Great and Small reminds me of a series of books by that name penned by James Herriot. It’s a memoir of a young veterinarian in 1930’s Yorkshire, England. The stories were turned into a charming British television series. The Herriot narrative and our own imagination as we dwell on the theme offer many possibilities to interpret the subject. It’s all very motivating.
Once plans are finalized I hope that members save the date and intend to come to the 2020 convention. Especially if you have not been for a while, it is so nice to reconnect with NATS friends. I can identify with that feeling as I re-connected with my nursing colleagues. It’s a wonderful feeling.
